Staying Sydney over night it seemed a shame not to do the guided tour. Well recommended. Great walk round telling the history and organisation of the place. You get into the old members area including the home and away dressing rooms. Some great memorabilia on show. We were in a small group of 6 and the whole tour took about 90 minutes. Lots of places to top up water bottles or have a pee!Im not a massive cricket fan but still enjoyed the tour and would recommend.
It is one of the best cricket stadiums in the world. They have a seating capacity of approximately 48000. I sat in Churchill stands which were very convenient and under the roof. The view was fantastic and all the other facilities in the stadium are well organized. The free parking can be found around the near by residential areas during matches or else there is free parking available at stadium during other times.
Traditional and historical ground. Love the atmosphere in this stadium. Always feel quite safe inspite of the huge crowd. Thanks to the huge security and police presence. Quite a few good stalls are situated outside almost every bay. Parking can be an issue when there is a popular match going on. Better to use public transport.
The don Bradman stands bay 1-3 are shaded and quite good. Stand 5 is breezy but hot. Stand 318 would be ideal view. Loads of refreshments. Amazing facilities and beautiful ground! One of the world's most important grounds in terms of its cricketing legacy.
Fantastic experience visiting this ground for 5 days of Ashes cricket in January this year, albeit the wrong result! Plenty of parking next to the ground, also good bus links. I was travelling from Manley beach, a combination of ferry, tube & bus plus short walk was pleasant, other than waiting for the bus in the morning heat. There is a decent merchandise shop outside the ground and during the Test there was an additional temporary outlet. The temperature on day 4 was a roasting 116F, that prompted more than one visit to the ice cream van! Ground capacity is around 46,000 so even in upper tier seating you can still see the play clearly, unlike the MCG. The ground has character, particular the old pavilion.
