You cannot call a burger 'The Southern Fried Chicken Burger' when it is in fact BATTERED and resembles (and weirdly tastes like) a piece of unseasoned oily fish. We originally thought they had given us the wrong order until we checked the menu and realised they didn't even have a fish burger on the menu. The lettuce on my burger was also a huge chunk of the core, and the jalapeno mayo had zero kick to it. Space-wise, the tables and chairs are too close together, meaning it is super difficult getting to your table. I had to physically pick up chairs and squeeze through tiny spaces just to get to my seat.Super disappointing. Won't be going back.
Ordered the southern fried chicken burger, the batter was definitely more of what you'd find on deep fried fish - not southern at all (and it actually tasted fishy). It was also super bland beyond belief, have they not heard of seasoning? The bun itself was also not great (large and not much substance), the lettuce/tomato and sauce inside didn't help much either. The chips were pretty standard but over salted (personally, I don't mind this too much).Only went here as it was across the road from the Hordern Pavilion, but I'd recommend you try something else... I'd bet even the pub next door does better food.2 stars as the staff were friendly, food was quick and the decor was nice.
I ordered the southern chicken burger - the batter on it was more like a beer battered fish fillet. Very chunky and oily. The bun was like having a Tip Top bun from woolies and just generally had nothing special going for it. I didnt finish the burger or the bland fries. My BF also didnt enjoy his backyard burger and said it was average. Giving this 2 stars only because the service and atmosphere was good but dont expect anything good from the food
Food was absolutely terrible. Ordered the iceberg salad and it looked like it would give me food poisoning. Kids cheeseburgers had an off meat smell. Service was fine but food really made the place a no repeat
Came for lunch during the school hols. They have kids meals for under 12yo, its $14.50 and includes a small juice or soft drink & delicious ice cream scoop with choc sauce and sprinkles for after lunch. Service was friendly and pretty quick, not busy despite the cricket being on next door. I had the big Backyard Burger which was juicy and delicious. Fries were nice & crispy, tho a little dry.
